vCam-6 Spring Repair Kit Overview:

This Spring Repair Kit should contain everything needed for a quick replacement of the Vivax-Metrotech vCam-6 Camera system spring. This kit includes 1) camera removal tool, 2) 12mm lanyards, 1) 12mm Spring, and 1) 12mm Curly Cord.

To repair/ replace the spring, curly cord, and lanyards first start with using the camera removal tool/ wrench to remove the camera. Place the tool a the tip of the spring and twist the camera off. Unscrew the camera from the curly cord. Use the tool on the tip of the other side of the spring to remove the spring. Unscrew the curly cord and remove it and the lanyards from the base.

Before going ahead with the spring test the system by temporarily attaching the new curly cord and the camera to test.

To replace the kit/ assembly do so in reverse of removing it (Though you shouldn’t need the tool at this point) while making sure the lanyards are straight in the end (This is critically important otherwise they can damage the curly cord). Also before screwing in the curly cord on either side make sure to apply silicon grease (also sometimes called plumber’s grease) to the O-rings to prevent water damage. Take your time it may take several tries to get the lanyards straight in the end (You can gently pull on the spring to test). We have videos in English and Spanish on how to do this.

After attaching the camera test the system again and if everything checks out then you have completed the repair successfully. If there is something wrong at this point please call our number to talk to one of our repair technicians about what to do next.
